William Bell

Horticulture Program Assistant

Bill is a native of Northampton County on Virginia's Eastern Shore. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Virginia Tech.

After completing degree requirements in 1975, Bill joined the U. S. Department of Agriculture as an agricultural statistician for the Statistical Reporting Service (now the National Agricultural Statistics Service) in South Carolina. In 1977 he transferred to the Natural Resources Conservation Service. During his career with NRCS, Bill worked in various administrative and program positions in Virginia, Maryland, Vermont, and Delaware.

In 2011, after more than 35 years of federal service, Bill retired from USDA and moved to the Northern Neck. Immediately following his retirement, he worked for Gloucester County as the County's Clean Community Coordinator. Bill left that position in May 2015 to join VCE as a Horticulture Program Assistant working with the Northern Neck Master Gardeners.
